Siblings rivalry

Siblings rivalry is as old as the days of Cain and Abel. Growing up, I remember my younger brother and I used to be at each other's throat, it was like we were in a competition, we spent virtually 23.5 hours of the day figthing. It was like he refused to accept a girl was older than him and trust me to aways push it in his face that 4 years gap wasn't 4 days. Immediately my parents come back from work, I'll be waiting by their door to start reporting but no matter how much they handled the case, I was never satisfied and would start again.
So am asking, why is it that this rivalry is always worse when a girl has a boy as her immediate younger one? Or am I imagining it?

  1. i had that fight with my brother too.....i just wanted to be in control and he won't accept it so we'll fight all day.....it stopped when he wounded me with a bottle and i let the blood soak into my skirt so that when my dad comes back he'll beat him up.....it worked he was beaten but i was not happy sha so since that day i stop desiring power and control over him or any of my siblings and that's how it went away...

    2. That your fight na serious fight. My own reach the level where my younger brother held me by my throat and i almost called the police for him, i actually reached the police station but decided against it. And i didn't speak to him for more than 2 years. Even now we rarely speak because he is too opinionated and i am too old to be arguing with someone.

  2. Unfortunately, there will always be siblings rivalry. I love my sister like crazy, and sometimes we squabble. I'm a good 7 years older than her, but you need to see me in action when she misbehaves. Anam akwu ya ezigbo aka nti!!!!

  4. Sometimes this rivalry makes the bond stronger, n its major cause is quest for power by the senior or first born.
I remember the day I fought with My immediate bro, mehn it was bloody, also the day I beat My sis up, it was so bad. But today nothing of such exists anymore, not even a quarrel.

    1. All these blood am reading about though!!
In some cases the younger provokes the elder sibling even when it is uncalled for and it weakens the bond or in some cases severs it!

  8. Mine was when we were all younger. I was immature enough to think I could force their respect. Of course it didn't work. All the drama and jealousy and physical fights have all stopped cos we grew up.
Now when I send my salary to my only brother and last born, Dem born am well to disrespect me?
    Impossicant. Lol.
i get too much respect sef.

  9. Lool i'm equally in d middle of 2 boys. 1st guy, i who happen to be the second and a guy after me. Meh those days na tug of war o.we can so fight but really i got a cut one day when my younger bro was pursuing me, an old bicycle did justice to my leg no be small o.seems since then he felt it and stopped been the wicked bro.

We are all grown up now and hardly fight + that stubborn younger bro o mine is now very respectful.

Th sibling's rilvary is normal bu yea maturity does justice.
