Pursue Excellence

Hiya lovelies?? Today is Monday *I see few people grumbling* and yeah, it's time for our character count series.

Today we'll be looking at pursuing excellence.

Wikipedia defines excellence as "a quality which is unusually good and so surpasses ordinary standards".
Excellence is a continuously moving target that can be pursued through actions of integrity, meeting all obligations and continuously learning and improving in all spheres to pursue the moving target.

In the pursuit of excellence, you should:

1. Do your best
I remember a primary rhyme "I will never rest until my good is better and my better is best". Why aim to be number 2 when you can be number 1? Strive to be the best, do not rest on your oars!

2. Persevere
Perseverance is continuing in the course of an action even in the face of difficulty or with little or no prospect of success.
Remember how many times Abraham Lincoln tried politics? Did he relax? No, he persevered and I'm sure you know his reward? He became the president of the most powerful country on earth, the USA.

3. Be prepared
Just like the motto of the Boys scout, you should always be prepared, never be found wanting.
The fact that you haven't been promoted does not mean you should not act/dress that position.

4. Be diligent
Being diligent is having or showing care and conscientiousness in one's work or duties. A diligent person is persistent, steady, earnest and carries out his/her work painstakingly.

5. Work hard
I'm sure we all know that hard work does not kill, instead it endears us to people.
Anything that has a worth doesn't come free of charge, it comes with a price and you must be willing to pay that price if excellence is your aim.

  2. Good is the enemy of best. If you settle for
something passable, you will not try to improve. Pursuit of excellence means efforts
    towards doing your best.

  3. I like what you said, trying even in the face of little prospect of success. This just goes to show that you have to believe in yourself even when no one else does!

  4. True that bubba, Hard work has a price, and anything gotten on a platter of gold doesn't really last the test of time, we have to shed blood, sweat and pain most times to achieve greatness.. Nice one Bubba. I am a big believer in the Fake It Till You make it movement, so i do things i am not, and actr like who I am not cause someday, i want to be what i do, and live the part i play today. :)

  7. Yeah everything listed up there with DISCIPLINE makes up Ur pursuit for excellence more productive.
Excellence is an aspect of life that needs all alacrity when working on. Thomas Edison is one man I respect even though He failed severally, with hardword, n persistence, He still came out with the achievement of creating the 'first commercially practical incandescent light'.
I'll refer U to d book 'In Pursuit of Excellence' by Dr. David Oyedepo.
