Lyrics of the day.

ARTISTE: ALICIA KEYS
TITLE: TEAR ALWAYS WIN

Check it out
It feels kinda crazy

These covers
May keep me warm at night
But they can't take your place
Cause they never gonna hold me tight

And these pillows
May let me rest my head
But they can't say goodnight
And tuck me in before I go to bed

Say now baby girl you're better off
That's what I'm telling myself over and over
But I'm lying to myself
Cause I don't want nobody else

These lips are missing you
Cause these lips ain't kissing you
These eyes put up a fight
But once again these tears always win
These arms are wanting you
Cause these arms ain't holding you
These eyes put up a fight
But once again these tears always win

Tell me when the hell this loneliness is gonna be over
When everything in this room reminds me of you
Everytime I think,  I'm getting closer
Cause tears drown me out
Once again I lose

These lips are missing you
These lips ain't kissing you
I put up a fight
But once again these tears always win

These arms are wanting you
These arms ain't holding you
These eyes put up a fight
But once again these tears always win

GRAMMAR 101

Hiya lovelies, it's been a while since we last had our grammar lesson but like I assured y'all,  I'm back for good (at least no more thoughts of closing the blog down since I'm not regular).

  14. By,  buy and bye: By is the preposition meaning next to, buy means purchase while bye means farewell or goodbye.

And that's it for today,  till next week when I bring more examples,  don't forget to keep refreshing this page.

P. S I know I've been going on and off like a switch but please I'm starting a #bringbackmyregularcommenters campaign oh. I'm going to smoke them out.

DEMOCRACY DAY

Today is May 29th and in Nigeria where I'm resident, it is a public holiday set aside to mark democracy day or rather the day power was handed over to the civilian by the military government.

I wasn't born during the austerity measure period and all of that but I remember the Abacha days (I was born in the late 90s) where things were so hard that my elder brother and I had to share one hb pencil into two to cut cost (oh those dark days!) and I remember waking up one morning to see everyone jubilating and when I asked what was happening, they said the general slumped and died.

Shortly after,  General Abdulsalam was made the new head of state and Buba Marwa the military administrator of Lagos state and things changed slightly.
Suddenly, rumor was rife of an imminent transition to a democratically elected government, since that was the hallmark of civilised societies and the world was moving towards achieving democracy and not military dictatorship anyway so it was with happiness that Nigerians went to the poll and voted massively for the PDP'S candidate and on May 29th 1999, power changed hands.

I was 9 years old and fresh out of primary school but I remember I had expectations even though I'm not sure I understood what democracy meant but looking back now,  16 years down the line,  it has gone from bad to worse!  Honestly this is not the Nigeria our founding fathers envisaged and truly, their labour seem to be in vain if you ask me.

I'm not going to dwell on the rant I have in mind but the truth is I was anti GMB (I'm not a GEJ apologist either) because I feel if we really want to move this nation forward,  we need not recycle old hands that have tasted power once upon a time after all these people were in power when my parents were told as kids that they are the future leaders.... If I may ask,  when will this future be?

I was shocked the other day when I found myself chanting "chanza" ie change... While I'm not saying GMB is the messiah because the truth is that this rot did not start 8 years ago,  it started a long time ago, I just hope it won't be business as usual. Let those who plundered our commonwealth be made to face the music.

To all of us Nigerians, I'd say congratulations for holding on this long... We've been through a whole lot and even though there have been threats to our democracy, the ties that bind have not snapped or been severed even with the many constraints.

Remember, change begins with you! Happy democracy day Nigeria.

TITLE: THE REASON

I'm not a perfect person
There's many things I wish I didn't do
But I continue learning
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
And the reason is you

I'm sorry that I hurt you
It's something I must live with everyday
And all the pain I put you through
I wish that I could take it all away
And be the one who catches all your tears
That's why I need to hear

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
And the reason is you
And the reason is you
And the reason is you
And the reason is you

I'm not a perfect person
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
And the reason is you
I've found a reason to show
A side of me you didn't know
A reason for all I do
And the reason is you.

I'm so sooooooooooorrrrrrryyyyyyyy!!!

Hiya doing lovelies?? Uh,  I don't know how to start, I know I've been going AWOL like no man's business lately but really it wasn't intentional*puppy face*

I was chosen as part of the crew that was going to go to camp(NYSC camp) to run the orientation broadcasting service(OBS) here in Sokoto and it was for a period of 22 days. I forgot how terrible network was there hence the fact that I didn't notify my dear readers that I might not be consistent.

It's been amazing working with other editorial and publicity group members and also working with the new batch A corps members ; it wasn't a smooth ride no doubt but I'm happy I was part of the team.

Now I'm back,  I'm not really strong per say because it involved sleepless nights and stressful days,  I've lost weight and all but as my loyalty lies here,  blogging will resume fully tomorrow.

So what have I missed and who missed me? As for me, I missed you all!
