Cherish means to value something highly. Other words that mean almost the same are: treasure value take pleasure in attach importance to Maybe you used to 'cherish' watching movies together, or maybe you 'cherished' spending time together in a certain place. Maybe you just 'cherished' your time together because everything was more fun when you were with each other than when you were with someone else.
Cherish means to love dearly. It does not normally apply to loving a person so much as loving something. In this case that something is a relationship.
